The State minister for tourism, wildlife, and antiquities Hon Martin Mugarra Bahinduka in conjunction with Miss Uganda Foundation and Breathtaking Uganda have launched the Pian Upe and Lokichar Wildlife reserves tour in Karamoja region.
The launch was held at Uganda Media Center in Kampala on Thursday, the 16th November 2023.
The four day tour shall run from the departure date of Thursday 30th November to return date on Sunday, 3rd December 2023.
The delegation will set off from Kampala, meeting and flag off at the Uganda Museum in the morning.
“I would like to welcome all Ugandans to join us and be part of this prestigious and historical trip.
I’m excited that this time we are touring the Karamoja region. Not so much heard of and not so much explored yet in Karamoja region despite a number of campaigns done in other regions.
I’m glad that this time round we have a chance to discover the beauty in Karamoja and mainly in Pian Upe. State minister for tourism, wildlife, and antiquities Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahinduka.
There shall be stopovers in Jinja at Whispers of the Nile for a brunch break and official opening and launch of Whispers of the Nile lodge.
After the launch, the group will then drive straight to Pian Upe headquarters and check into Karamoja at Overland Camp and Pian Upe, UWA Bandas in Pian UPE game reserve.
During the tour, evening barbecue of organically farmed goat meat feast with campfire games and storytelling shall spice the event.
Transferring from Pian Upe through Namalu, Tokola then Nakapiripirit, Lorengwadwat then Moroto town, the minister shall head to Moroto museum for a handover ceremony to the contractors for reconstruction and upgrading.
Besides tourism, Breathtaking Uganda, Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahinduka and the Beauty Queens shall also engage in a charity event as part of the four day tour.
The beauty Queens will be led by Miss Uganda winner Hannah Karema. Karena who intends to use the trip to generate content for Miss World Contest.
Charity activities with special reference to the community near Pian Upe headquarters.
Together with the Karamoja Children’s Charity, a charity supporting girls rescued from forced marriages the travelling Contingent will be engaged in a drive that will mobilize support towards school fees, scholastic materials, Sanitary pads, panties, soap among others for the vulnerable girls.
“The charity mission is something I hold dear as the current holder of Miss Uganda crown. This is because the Miss Uganda Foundation is there to uplift girls, and it is also what I passionately wanted to do all my life.” Miss Uganda Hannah Karema said.
The Miss Uganda beauty queens will also give motivational talks to the affected girls on issues of mental
Health, menstrual hygiene and encourage these young girls to desist from teenage and early/childhood marriages.
