The forthcoming outing of the SMACK League which is due on 3rd December 2023 at Legends ground in Lugogo shall embrace a charity and Autism awareness and sensitization campaign.
Zimbaz team who are the organizers have interested themselves into a fight against Autism.
Ahead of Match-day 17, the Zimbaz launched an Autism awareness and sensitization campaign.
The initiative, from the class of 2001-2006, aims to shed light on Autism Spectrum Disorder, adding significance to the SMACK League, sponsored by Guinness.
“Many children with autism face daily stigmization. Our findings indicate parents and the entire surrounding population don’t know how to handle the situation.
As the next weekend organizers (Zimbaz) we are expressing our support and stand in solidarity with these victims. Our goal is to create awareness.
Our call to everyone especially those with expertise in the disease to come out and join us to assist parents with children affected.” Joseph Kasule ‘Sixtus’ Kawooya, chairman of the Zimbaz team during a press conference at Zambali Bistro restaurant in Kampala.
The ZIMBAZ also intend to raise UGX. 10,000,000 to go to TUHA Foundation.
TUHA is a physiotherapy center in Komamboga. The raised funds will contribute to equipment and scaling up the facility.
This marks a step up for the SMACK League, an Old Boys sports league of St. Mary’s College Kisubi.
Their focus is on networking, health, fitness, business support, family, and CSR activities.
The campaign also aims at raising awareness but also to foster understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism within the community.
They have introduced the special ZIMBAZ XMAS Edition t-shirt, priced at 40,000/= for adults and 30,000/= for children. These can be purchased via www.udou.studio with proceeds going towards autism awareness.
Besides charity and Autism awareness campaign, Match-day 17 will be a fun fare starting with a pre-event outing (Kasiki) at the top notch Zimbali Bistro lounge at Lumumba Avenue, an initiative of the Zimbaz on Thursday evening.
On the D-Day, the legendary Afrigo Band will play the signature live tune to the gathering.
