Two children (13 and 8 years) are confirmed dead in Kamugoyi village,  Kanaba Sub-county Kisoro district, due to a landslide that occurred as a result of heavy rain that hit the community last night.

The 2 bodies have been retrieved and handed to the family for burial.

Red Cross Society Kisoro branch volunteers hit scene, supporting the family and other affected neighbors.

The deceased have been identified as Irasubiza Laban who was 13 years  and Niyonsaba Brian of 8 years.

Their grandmother Gorgeana Juliana (80years) was also affected and she’s currently admitted at Kisoro hospital for further management.

The parents of the deceased are Babona Gidion and Jolley Jeniffer. These are from the Batwa community.

Other Sub-counties including but not limited to  Murora, Nyarubuye, and Nyundo are also heavily affected.

Due to heavy rains, many parts of the country are experiencing adverse effects of climate change.
