Dominant St. Mary’s Secondary School Kitende (SMASK) have won the second edition of the CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools qualifiers.
Kitende who represented Uganda in the boys’ category 4-2 against a Tanzanian side via penalties.
The game ended in a 1-all stalemate in the normal time.
It’s now official St. Mary’s Kitende will represent the region and Uganda at the continental championship slated for April 2024.
Kitende picked five wins out of five games in group stage before sealing off a sixth (6th) in the final against the Tanzanians.
In the process, the crowned champions (Kitende) scored a record 12 goals and conceded only three in the entire tournament.
Kawempe Muslim SS also clinched the Zonal championship on the girls category.
The Ugandan side edged Kenya 2-1 to consolidate a East Africa double in the region’s girls schools football.
Shadiah Nabirye and Butini Sharua striked Kawempe to the CAF African Schools Championship set for April next year.
